Cub Scout informational meetings set in Seymour

Seymour’s three Cub Scout packs will host a Join Scouts Night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at each public school in Seymour.

Students who attend private schools or are homeschooled also are welcome to attend.

The packs are especially excited to be part of the new Scout Me In movement, in which both boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome to join. Cub Scouts is a family-friendly organization dedicated to teaching good community membership while having lots of fun.

Each pack participates in popular district events such as the Shoot-O-Ree and Splash-O-Ree at Maumee Scout Reservation. Families get to enjoy being at the camp while learning new skills and gaining confidence.

Packs also participate in the traditional pinewood derby, in which boys and girls of all ages can design, build and race their own wooden cars to see who can take home the trophy.

Other pack activities include camping, meeting with community leaders and taking field trips to police or fire stations. Throughout it all, Scouts learn about teamwork, leadership and community service.
