Hornets complete comeback for first win

MEDORA

Medora won its final three sets after dropping the opening two in a 20-25, 22-25, 25-13, 25-15, 15-7 win over Christian Academy (Madison) on Monday.

Kailen Flynn led the Hornets with seven kills, and Keyla Newby had three.

The Hornets went 38-for-40 with 14 kills in attacks and 64-for-76 with four aces in serving.

The win marked the first for first-year varsity coach Missy Stewart.

Medora (1-1) will travel to Springs Valley tonight.

GIRLS SOCCER

Cougars drop season-opener

CLARKSVILLE

Trinity Lutheran was held scoreless in a 5-0 season-opening loss to Providence on Monday.

In goal, Genesis Munoz recorded six saves for the Cougars.

Trinity was out-shot 11-2 in the game.

The Cougars (0-1) play at Milan tonight before hosting Rising Sun on Saturday.

Owls beat Olympians

COLUMBUS

Laken Waskom’s medalist score of 8-over-par 44 led Seymour past Columbus East 191-208 on Monday at Otter Creek Golf Course.

Bridget Marshall shot a 45, Madeline Wisler carded a 49, Kara Rice added a 53 and Rylee Knutson had a 63 for the Owls.

The Owls will host Bedford North Lawrence and Jennings County tonight at Shadowood Golf Course.
