The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts in Seymour at 2001 N. Ewing St. in Seymour is offering two unique classes during September.

The classes will be taught by Angie Priest, who along with her husband, owns Vevay Vintage Prop and Shop in Vevay.

Beeswax Candle Rolling will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6. The class is for students ages 10 and up. Students will create a pair of boxed, handrolled beeswax candles. The fee is $29 per person, which includes supplies, honey bee wisdom and antidotes.

At 10 a.m. Sept. 22, Priest will teach a furniture painting class featuring chalk paint. Students will learn all the basics of chalk painting furniture, including preparation, color selection, application and finishing techniques.

The class is $69/person, with a limit of 10 students. Students must bring their own small piece to be painted, such as a chair, shelf or end table.

Pre-registration is required, as is payment. Email [email protected] or call 812-522-2278 to leave a message. Those interested also may send a message via the center’s Facebook page.

Priest is a fourth-generation beekeeper and her family now boasts six generations of beekeepers.
