Wilma L. Taylor, age 88 of Seymour, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Schneck Medical Center. She was born October 2, 1929 in Brownstown to William and Marie (Loper) McElfresh.

Wilma graduated from Brownstown High School with the class of 1947. On December 11, 1948, she married William H. Gossman in Brownstown. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1983. She married the Rev. Charles W. Taylor on November 18, 1989 at the Seymour First Church of the Nazarene. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2010.

Survivors include her sisters, Mary Virginia (Lloyd) Otte and Edna Baker both of Brownstown; 5 nephews, grandchildren, Rick (Teresa) Wilson, Debbie (Carman) Collins, Steve Wilson, Bryan (Terri) Wilson, Lisa (Rick) Clark, Mark (Jessica) Owen, Erik Owen, Tammy (Mike) Sanders, Tracie (Garrick) Alexander, Scott (Crystal) Taylor, Stacy Taylor, and CD (Melissa) Taylor; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husbands; step-son, David Taylor step-daughters, Millicent Wilson and Miriam Sherman; sister, Dorothy (Raymond) Spurgeon, and grandchildren Michael Wilson and Tricia DaSilva.

Wilma was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, now The Point. She had served as a Sunday School Teacher, Missionary President, Treasurer, Youth Director, Prime Time Director and Bible Quiz Director while serving the Nazarene churches in Seymour and Martinsville and the Morris Street United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. She planned and hosted tours for the Prime Timers and also led a bible study group at the Jamestown Senior Citizen buildings for several years. She was privileged to go on a work and witness trip to Matlapa, Mexico with the Martinsville First Nazarene Church, where they helped build a church on the edge of the Rain Forest.

She was head cashier at Krogers for twenty three years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, I.U. and Pacers basketball, Colts football and her flowers.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m Monday, August 6, 2018, at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Pastor Rick Wilson, Wilma’s grandson, will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
