Seymour Main Street is encouraging people to shop downtown Saturday and take part in a unique and interactive art activity.
During the monthly Downtown Shop Around event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., families are encouraged to create sidewalk chalk drawings at participating merchants and pose for a picture with one of the several pre-drawn images.
People who post the photos to social media with the #downtownchalkaround will be entered to win a $100 gift card to the participating store of their choice. Shoppers also can be entered to win gift cards by picking up a punch card and getting it stamped at nine different businesses.
There also will be live music performed by Seymour High School band students Chandler Turner, Cory Jones, Harrison Cottrill, Dustin Morris, Josiah Massengale, Josh Hopkins and Jordan Thomas.
Participating merchants include Artistic Impressions, B2 Bikes & Boards, Claire Marie, Don Chuy La Mexicana, Dragonfly Boutique, Greemann’s Furniture, Hearts Desire, Hoosier Hearth, Seymour High School’s Jr. Main Street, Lea Boutique, Mi Casa, Revel Salon, Seymour Area Farmer’s Market, Stacy’s Stitching, Threads, Tiemeier’s Jewelry and Urban Farmhouse.
“The downtown has a lot to offer and if you have not been downtown lately, you will be surprised to see things are changing,” said Becky Schepman, executive driector of Seymour Main Street.
