SHS hosting inaugural “For the Kids” 5K event
Seymour High School’s Dance Marathon will be hosting an inaugural 5K run/walk and kids fun run to benefit Riley Children’s Hospital on August 4.
Cost is $20 if registered by Aug. 3 and $25 on race day. The 400-meter kids fun run is free. The race will start and end in the SHS parking lot.
Forms can be picked up at Fitness 1440 in Seymour. Donations can be made with the forms, or on race day.
Pre-race packet pick up is from 7 to 7:45 a.m. before the race, which starts at 8. The kids fun run is at 9 before the awards presentation. Early packet pick up will be on Aug. 3 from 9 to 5 p.m. at Fitness 1440 in Seymour.
Trophies will be awarded to overall male and female runners. Medals will also go to the winners in each of seven age groups. The three top walkers will also receive awards. Awards will be presented at the SHS commons.

Brown picks up ninth win
Zack Brown pitched six scoreless innings for the Biloxi Shuckers in a 6-4 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Sunday.
The Seymour native gave up one hit while striking out six and walking five on the mound. Brown’s ERA dropped to 2.33 after the outing, which is the best in the Southern League. He improved to 9-0 with the win.
The Shuckers are the Double-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Shuckers play at MGM Park in Biloxi, Mississippi.
