SEYMOUR
Mr. Kenneth E. Burns, 84, of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at home. He was born in Spraytown on September 1, 1933 to the late Bertis and Blanche (Altemeier) Burns.
Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday, July 5 at 11 am with Rev. Van Breeding officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday from 4-7 pm and on Thursday from 10 am until time of service.
He was a graduate of Freetown High School, class of 1952. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. In 1976, he married Naomi Hopkins; she survives. He had been employed as a truck driver, serving Weyerhaeuser for 7 1/2 years, Ben Franklin for 4 1/2 years and at Wal-Mart for 24 years. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, watching sports on TV and visiting casinos. He was a gentle and big hearted man that loved life and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Naomi Burns; step-children, Vermona (Kenneth) Heath, Dennis (Martha) Couch and Joe Couch; grandchildren, Drew Burns and Landon Burns; step-grandchildren, Amber Porter and Caleb Couch; step-great-grandchildren, Kyndra Thomas, Kayden Foster and Koady Porter; sister, Lola Mae Edington; nieces, Vickie Fleetwood and Patsy Killey Hess; and nephew, Tim Edington.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Bradley Burns; sister, Opal Ault; and niece, Reah Dawn Ault.
