Vallonia man arrested on sexual misconduct charges

A Vallonia man was arrested Friday on sexual misconduct charges following an investigation into incidents involving a teenage girl.

Indiana State Police arrested Derrick G. Williams, 38, following an investigation into the allegations that began June 7.

The Jackson County Department of Child Services and Child Advocacy Center in Dillsboro reported the situation to police following their own investigation June 6.

Master Trooper Jason Duncan and Detective Andrew Mitchell determined Williams had sexual contact with a girl several times over a two-year period when the girl was between 14 and 16, according to a news release from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, public information officer for the Indiana State Police Versailles Post.

Williams was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown on a Level 4 felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor and two Level 5 felony charges of child solicitation.

A Level 4 felony is punishable by two to 12 years in prison upon conviction, while a Level 5 felony is punishable by one to six years in prison upon conviction.

Williams is being held in the jail without bond pending his initial court appearance.
