A Seymour man and woman face charges of neglect of a dependent and various drug charges after they were arrested along with five other people Sunday night.
Seymour police received an anonymous tip that two young children living in a house in the 200 block of South O’Brien St. were at risk because of drugs in the home and possible abuse.
Detective Crystal Schapson contacted the Indiana Department of Child Services and made a visit to the residence with a caseworker.

Schapson found Meagin K. McFall, 30, and the two children, ages 2 and 3, in the home. McFall reportedly denied that anyone had smoked marijuana or that there were drugs in the house.
Another person, Andrew L. Smith, 33, was in the house at the time and told Schapson he and another woman had been there over the weekend. He took Schapson to another room where he turned over marijuana he had with him and admitted to smoking it 30 minutes prior to her arrival, according to the affidavit.
Schapson then asked to search the home, but McFall wouldn’t let her, according to court records. A search warrant was obtained and signed by Jackson Superior Court II Judge Bruce MacTavish.
When Schapson returned with the warrant, there were three more people at the house. One of them, Joseph R. French, 20, allegedly reached for his waistband at which time Officer Jacob Florine grabbed him, according to the affidavit.
French had a handgun with the serial numbers scratched off and was arrested on drug and weapons charges.
During the search, Schapson located a sealed plastic bag containing a methamphetamine pipe with a rubber hose attached in a backpack belonging to Marissa Disque, 26. Schapson also found methamphetamine, marijuana, a digital scale, paraphernalia and a used syringe.
Those arrested and their charges are:
Derek A. Austin, 27, possession of methamphetamine, neglect of a dependent, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.
Meagin K. McFall, 30, two charges of neglect of a dependent, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Andrew L. Smith, 33, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.
Joshua A. Lowe, 32, maintaining a common nuisance.

Lisa K. Barger, 30, visiting a common nuisance, false informing and a Bartholomew County warrant.

All seven were transported to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown, where they were booked without bond.
