Truck fire leaves Interstate 65 partially closed near Seymour

UPDATED at 6:48 p.m.: Both lanes of southbound Interstate 65 just north of Seymour have reopened after a semitrailer fire.

INITIAL REPORT at 5:36 p.m.

One lane of southbound Interstate 65 just north of Seymour remains closed at this time because of a semitrailer fire.

The fire, which occurred shortly after 5 p.m., initially caused the closure of both southbound lanes near the 51-mile-marker, according to a report from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles.

Wheeles, public information officer for the Versailles Post, said in Tweet posted at 5:30 p.m. that firefighters were able to put out the fire, but traffic was going to remain slow in the area.
