Herbert “Shorty” Hollin

Herbert “Shorty” Hollin, also known as “Pap”, 89, of Crothersville, Indiana passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour, Indiana

Born November 8, 1928 in Manchester, KY, he was the son of the late Henry and Mollie (Maxie) Hollin.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran.

Mr. Hollin worked at Arvins in Columbus, Indiana and a Coal Miner. He was a member of Brownstown Nazarene Church, enjoyed Flea Markets, Yard Sales, playing the Harmonica and loved throwing horseshoes at the Jennings Co. Horseshoe Club. He also enjoyed setting a booth at the Scottsburg Sale Barn.

Survivors include his wife, Fern (Jones) Hollin, whom he married on June 18, 1951; sons: Mike (Connie) Hollin, Seymour, Indiana, Glenn (Sandy) Hollin, Paris Crossing, Indiana, and Terry (Penny) Hollin, Crothersville, Indiana; daughters: Mary (Gary) Hardgrove, Austin, Indiana and Judy (Bill) Perry, Seymour, Indiana; daughter-in-law: Luisa Hollin, Seymour, Indiana; brother: John Hollin, Little York, Indiana; sisters: Katherine Hays, East Moline, Illinois, Ethyl Guy, Crothersville, Indiana, Lillie Becraft, Shelbyville, Indiana, and Wilma Spicer, Scottsburg, Indiana.

He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Herbert Hollin, Jr., 5 brothers Granville, Oscar, Henry Jr., Willie and Owen Hollin. Grandchildren, Jessica Hollin, Courtney Hollin, Jennifer Russell, Christopher Hollin, Daniel Gambrel and great grandchildren, Davidian Gambrel and Dyllan Wayne Davis.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana with Rev. Damon Marling officiating.

Visitation will be 10 am to 1 pm Saturday at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana.

Burial will be at Crothersville Cemetery in Crothersville, Indiana.

Military Graveside Service will be conducted by American Legion Post #234 Honor Guard.
