Braves beat Rebels

Brownstown Central collected nine hits in a 10-2 win over South Central (Elizabeth) on Monday.

The Braves trailed 1-0 until Eli Brown hit a grand slam over the left-center field fence to give the Braves the lead.

After adding a run in the fourth inning off an error, Seth Borden hit an RBI single and Stuart Hayden blasted an RBI double to put the Braves up 7-1 in the sixth.

BC gave up a run in the bottom of the sixth, but responded with three in the top of the seventh inning.

Lucas Hines hit a two-run homer to left field and Borden plated a run with a double to give the Braves an eight-run cushion.

Wineinger picked up the win on the mound, which was his fourth of the season in eight starts.

The Braves (14-12) will face Corydon Central at Silver Creek High School in Sectional 30 play on Wednesday.

Games canceled

Seymour’s game against Eastern (Pekin) and Crothersville’s versus Southwestern (Hanover) were cancelled on Monday evening due to rain.

The game will not be made up, with sectionals commencing on Wednesday.
