Phyllis Anne Zinkan Beeker, 79 of Seymour passed away at home on May 14, 2018. She was born February 18, 1939 in Washington, IN to Otho Vincent and Phyllis Mae Moore Zinkan. She married Melvin Beeker on June 11, 1955 in Washington, IN. She was a very loving wife and mother who was dedicated to her family. In her early years, she received her accounting degree from Sue Bennett College in London, Kentucky and worked as a Bonding Clerk for Patton-Chestnut Insurance in London, KY. Phyllis worked for Jackson County Bank in Columbus before retiring. A very active member of the Methodist Church, Phyllis served as Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher and Choir member. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Seymour. She will always be remembered for the beautiful poetry and songs she wrote.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Betty Louise Burkholder, Beverly Killion, Rose Marie Costin and Carolyn June Pendley. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Melvin Beeker, her children, Daniel Lee (Renee) Beeker, Rodney Wayne (Susan) Beeker, Deborah Sue (Richard) Doughty and Gregory Leon Beeker. She is also survived by grandchildren, Bethany Beeker Zavitz, Crystie (Paul) Stewart, Jesse (Deborah) Beeker, Dustin (Lindsay) Beeker, Mindy (Jess) Dinkins, Brandon (Jen) Beeker, Michael (Rachel) Doughty, Gabrielle and Isabelle Beeker and Emily Mathews. Great-grandchildren are Keegan, Katey, Kyra, Karlee, Charlotte, Landon, Henry, William, Evie, Calvin, Hudson, Zeke and Max.

Friends may visit with Phyllis’ family from 4-8 pm Thursday, May 17, 2018 and one hour prior to the service at the Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, IN. The funeral service will be at 11 am Friday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel with interment at Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 201 E. 3rd Street, Seymour, IN 47274 and Schneck Hospice.
