Lena R. Loper

FRANKLIN

Mrs. Lena R. Loper, 95, of Franklin, formerly of Seymour, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Indiana Masonic Home.

She was born on July 30, 1922 in Granger County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Charlie Johnson Parker and Gertrude Ester (Miller) Parker.

In 1942, Lena married Forrest Loper in West Palm, Florida.

She was a member of Spraytown Free Methodist Church. During WW II, she was a welder in a defense factory to help serve our country. Lena enjoyed traveling with her husband to many destinations, with Florida being her favorite vacation spot. She was an amazing quilter as she made many quilts for friends and family. She was an animal lover, especially dogs and birds. Those that visited her knew she was amazing in the kitchen and a very generous cook. Lena was best known for her award-winning carrot cake.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Richard A. Bevers; nephews, David (Kay) Rose, William Loper, and Randy Loper; Niece, Vicki Fuller.

She was preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; and Daughter, Beverly Ruth Bevers; Brothers, Joe Carl, Johnny Pierce, William Henry, and Herman Max; Sisters, Ome Mae, Bertha Lee, and Della Marie; and Niece, Joyce Parker.

Burial will be at Whites Chapel Cemetery, beside her husband Forrest, following the funeral service at Voss & Sons Funeral Service.

Family and friends may gather at Voss & Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm and on Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Jerry Van Kuiken will officiate the funeral service on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Voss & Sons Funeral Service.

Memorials may be designated to Spraytown Free Methodist Church or Whites Chapel Cemetery fund.
