A 31-year-old Florida woman faces at least five criminal charges related to an investigation that began Saturday morning with a report of a disturbance at an apartment in Crothersville.
Nancy Goins of Bradenton faces Level 6 felony charges of visiting/maintaining a common nuisance and violation of the Legend Drug Act; a Class A misdemeanor charge of battery resulting in injury; and two Class B misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
The former Seymour resident was arrested at a store in Crothersville after the incident, which began with a report of a disturbance at an apartment at 404 Pennsylvania Ave., according to a news release from Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Reserve Officer Scott Davis.
He said during the investigation of the disturbance, police were told the resident of the apartment found Goins smoking what was reported to be a drug pipe in one of the bedrooms.
When Goins refused to leave the apartment, she got into a fight with the resident, who was able to get Goins out of the apartment, Davis said.
During the fight, however, the man suffered scratches and a bite to his right thumb.
Officers with the Crothersville Police Department later found Goins at the store in the 300 block of North Armstrong Street, but she would not cooperate with the officers and was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown, Davis said.
During the book-in process, Goins was found to have a prescription drug in her purse, Davis said.
Crothersville Police Department Officer Chris Cooper and Police Chief Brent Turner assisted in the investigation.
Goins is being held without bond in the Jackson County Jail pending her initial hearing in Jackson Circuit Court in Brownstown.
