Willard “Bill” and Verna Benter of Seymour celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Joe Huber’s Family Farm & Restaurant in Starlight.

Willard and the former Verna Claycamp were married May 20, 1958, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dudleytown.

They are the parents of four children, Ruth (Jeff) Pollen, Sandra (Gary) Heideman and Steven Benter, all of Seymour, and James Benter, deceased. They also have four grandchildren, Erica (Darren) Paul, Andrew (Lynsey) Heideman, Lauren (Eric) Cyliax and Nathan Pollen.

Willard has been a dairy and grain farmer all of his life. He has held various church offices at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers, is a member of the Sauers Men’s Club and was a member of the Lutheran Bowling League for 58 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

Verna retired as a cook at St. John’s Lutheran School Sauers after 22 years and is a homemaker. She is a past member of the Sauers Ladies Aid and a volunteer seamstress for Lutheran Community Home.

Both are members of St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers.
