The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to activate traffic signals Monday at two U.S. 50 bridges west of Brownstown.
The signals will restrict traffic flow to one direction at a time in conjunction with a $2.1 million bridge replacement and refurbishment project.
Milestone Contractors is the state’s contractor for removing and replacing the 66-foot-long U.S. 50 bridge at McHargue Ditch, located 1.02 miles west of North State Road 135.
The Columbus contractor also is charged with installation of a new 200-foot-long bridge deck at the three-span U.S. 50 structure over Smallwood Ditch, located 0.42 miles west of North State Road 135. Work at Smallwood Ditch will include scour protection, beam painting and bridge rail replacement.
U.S. 50’s traffic count at the bridges is 5,400 vehicles per day.
