North Vernon man accused of sexual misconduct with minor

A North Vernon man has been arrested on a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Raymond T. Clarke, 20, was arrested Friday after a search warrant was served at a residence in the 200 block of High Street in North Vernon, said Sgt. Andrew Richmond of the North Vernon Police Department.

Clarke is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old girl who had been reported by a parent as a runaway, Richmond said.

The sexual misconduct charge is a level 5 felony, and the contributing to delinquency charge is a Class A misdemeanor.

Clarke was being held at the Jennings County Jail on a $3,155 cash bond, Richmond said.
