CROTHERSVILLE

Richard E. “Dick” Hutchens, 84, of Crothersville, IN, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018, at Seymour Place in Seymour, IN.

Born October 8, 1933, in Paint Lick, KY, he was the son of Wilgus and Sallie (Adams) Hutchens, who are both deceased. Richard was a 1952 Crothersville High School graduate. He graduated on Sunday, went to work on the following Monday at the American Can and retired when the plant closed after 40+ years of service.

He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, was an avid reader of westerns and mysteries, enjoyed being outdoors and was the caregiver of the family.

On January 16, 1953 at Bethany Baptist Church in Crothersville, IN, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol June (Cartwright) Hutchens, who preceded him in death on September 14, 2009. Survivors include 1 daughter, Venetia (Skip) Green of Seymour, IN, 2 grandchildren, Brittany (Jeremie Jones) Washbush and Kyle Green, great-grandchildren, Aubrey Washbush and Isaiah Jones, all of Crothersville, IN, and 1 sister, Ada Evans of Louisville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 son, Terry Hutchens who passed away on Nov. 5, 2016, 1 sister, Louise Hutchens, and 1 brother, Harold Hutchens.

Pastor Randy King will conduct funeral servicesat 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Crothersville, with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery.

Visitation will from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, January 15, 2018 and after 10:00 AM on Tuesday at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Crothersville.
