Trinity Lutheran beats Senators

CAMPBELLSBURG

Class A No. 5 Trinity Lutheran defeated sectional foe No. 10 West Washington 61-55 Thursday.

The Cougars (15-3) trailed by two at the end of the first quarter, but Trinity held the Senators to seven points in the second to lead 25-22 at intermission.

Trinity outscored West Washington 17-10 in the third quarter, but the Senators finished strong.

In the final eight minutes the Senators put up 23 points, but were only able to hold Trinity to 19.

Piper Acton led the Cougars with 16 points and Abby Hackman scored 15 to go along with nine rebounds.

Trinity will next play at Waldron on Jan. 9.

Hornets fall to Washington Catholic

WASHINGTON

Medora was held scoreless in the third quarter in a 56-29 loss at Washington Catholic on Wednesday.

The Hornets (2-10) trailed 23-8 after eight minutes of play and 35-15 at half.

While Medora trailed 47-15 after 24 minutes, the Hornets outscored the Cardinals 14-9 in the fourth quarter.

Lillian Hatfield led the Hornets with 14 points and Kailen Flynn scored nine.

The Hornets will host Union Dugger tonight.
