Stars sweep Braves

BEDFORD

Bedford North Lawrence defeated Brownstown Central 5-0 on Thursday.

The closest matches for the Braves came at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles, as Ethan Wischmeier fell 6-0, 7-5 and Gunnar Zickler and Jackson Lahrman lost 6-2, 7-5.

The Braves (5-5) host Salem tonight for a Mid-Southern Conference match.

GIRLS SOCCER

Cougars defeat Eagles

Trinity Lutheran used three second half goals to beat Brown County 4-1 on Thursday.

Savanna Setty scored a goal off a breakaway to put the Cougars up 1-0 by the break.

Out of intermission, Flossier Cooper scored off a throw in from 18-yards.

Setty added another goal off an assist by Lucy Cooper and Flossie scored her second goal of the night on a direct kick from 30 yards to help secure the win.

Returning from injury, Vidalis Montanez recorded 13 saves in goal for Trinity.

The Cougars (4-5) will host Christian Academy of Indiana on Tuesday.

Cougars win in four

BEDFORD

Trinity Lutheran defeated Bedford North Lawrence 25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19 on Thursday.

Hannah Sabotin led Trinity with 14 kills, Bailey Reynolds had nine an Sydney James added seven.

Sami Newmister had three aces for the Cougars, Ashley Goecker totaled 16 digs and Courtney Barker had 22 assists.

The Cougars (8-8) will host Madison on Monday.

Bulldogs beat Hornets

MEDORA

Orleans defeated Medora 25-13, 25-18, 25-20 at the Hornets’ Nest Thursday.

Kailen Flynn led the Hornets with 28 hits and four of the team’s eight kills.

Flynn and Katie Beesley each finished with three assists and Alli Carney had one block.

The Hornets (2-7) will play at Union Dugger on Saturday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Owls can’t make comeback

NEW ALBANY

Despite battling back from a two-goal deficit, Seymour couldn’t make the comeback in a 4-3 Hoosier Hills Conference loss to New Albany on Thursday.

Bailey Lykins, Maddie Roark and Bailey Lewis recorded the Owls’ goals.

Assists went to Alyssa Perry and Roark.

In goal, Aidan Hiester recorded 12 saves for the Owls.

Seymour (7-2, 1-1 HHC) will play Saturday at Silver Creek.

Bedford North Lawrence beat Brownstown Central 170-194 on Thursday at Otis Park Golf Course.

Taylor Norman led the Stars with a four-over-par 40.

Regan Campbell was low for the Braves with a 43.

Shelby Stuckwisch carded 49, KaCee Collins shot 50, Emma Zabor carded 52 and Ashley Schroer scored 64.
