Brownstown hosting girls basketball league

The Brownstown Central girls basketball program is conducting a third- and fourth-grade league this fall.

The league will consist of drills, shooting techniques and games toward the end of the eight weeks. The number of girls will determine how many games they will play each night.

The first session is Tuesday with registration from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and practice from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Brownstown Central High School gymnasium.

Each of the following weeks, the league will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays — Sept. 11, 18 and 25 and Oct. 2, 9, 23 and 30. Picture day will be Oct. 2, and games will be on the other three dates in October.

The cost is $30. Sign-ups will be Tuesday in the high school gym lobby. Checks may be made payable to Brownstown Youth Basketball or BYB.

Coaches Luke Warren and Karla Rieckers will be overseeing the league and practices. The high school basketball players will be coaching the teams. High school students and Rieckers (if needed) will officiate the games.
