Cougars get first win

AUSTIN

Trinity Lutheran defeated Austin 4-0 on Tuesday for its first win of the 2017 season.

Andre Emily netted the Cougars’ first goal of the game off a feed from Kash Siefker with 14 minutes remaining in the first half.

Jacob Crockett extended the Cougars’ advantage to 2-0 with less than a minute to go on a coast-to-coast goal prior to intermission.

Emily added another goal with nine minutes on the clock in the second half off a feed from Noah Criswell.

Criswell got one to put the Cougars up 4-0 on an assist by Sawyer Doggett.

In goal, Jacob Keith recorded three saves for the Cougars.

Trinity (1-1-2) will play at Oldenburg Academy on Monday.

VOLLEYBALL

Hornets fall in three

MEDORA

Medora fell to Rock Creek Academy 27-25, 25-11, 25-10 on Tuesday at the Hornets Nest.

Kailen Flynn led the Hornets with 23 hits and eight kills, and Katie Beesley totaled 11 hits with one kill. The Hornets finished with nine total kills.

Setting, Beesley made 38 of 42 passes.

Medora (1-4) will play at Paoli on Thursday.

Cougars slam Mohawks

WALDRON

Trinity Lutheran stayed perfect on the season by topping Waldron 25-6, 25-13, 25-6 on Tuesday.

Chloe Criswell and Hannah Sabotin each had six kills for the Cougars. Serving, Bailey Reynolds totaled seven aces.

Lauren Knieriem finished with 15 digs and Courtney Barker had 14 assists.

The Cougars (3-0) will host Franklin on Thursday and play at the Brownstown Central Invite on Saturday.

BOYS TENNIS

Braves beat Lancers

BROWNSTOWN

Brownstown Central moved back over .500 with a 4-1 victory against Edinburgh on Tuesday.

The Braves won all three singles spots.

Ethan Carlin topped Coltan Henderson 7-5, 6-3, Gunnar Zickler beat Gabe Wilson 6-1, 6-0 and Ethan Wischmeier won a three-setter 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 against Ryan Gaston.

At No. 1 doubles, Jackson Lahrman and Adam Pottschmidt posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory versus Brandon McManaway and Bladen Hancock.

The Lancers’ lone win came at No. 2 doubles, as Parker Bryant and Bryce Burton beat Reece Carlin and Griffin Stidam 6-3, 6-2.

The Braves (2-1) will go to Scottsburg on Thursday for a Mid-Southern Conference match.
