SEYMOUR
Ruth H. Sweany, 90, of Seymour passed away at 8:15 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center.
Born Sept. 14, 1926, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth Marsh Ruddick. On Sept. 14, 1946, at Reddington Christian Church, she married Harold H. Sweany, who passed away July 16, 2014.
She graduated from Shields High School in 1944 and attended Indiana Business College from 1944 to 1945.
She was a member of Central Christian Church and the Loyal Devoir Society. She volunteered as an Office Angel at the church, Hoosier Christian Village and the Jackson County Clothing Center. She worked at the Seymour Tribune for 26 years in the accounting department, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include her children, Marsha Fisher of Franklin, Larry Sweany of Seymour and Randy Sweany of Florida; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brad) Sanders, Susan Hayes, Kim (Mike) Adams, Becky (Colin) Hunter, Shawn Sweany, Matthew Sweany, Christopher Sweany, Sarah Sweany, Erin (Jeff) Sweany and Nathan (Kara) Sweany; great-grandchildren, Christian Hunter, Joe Hunter, Colten Adams and Jackson Sweany; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Allie Adams and Paul Sanders.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David A. Sweany; three brothers, Francis I. Ruddick, Harold R. Ruddick and George W. Ruddick; and a sister, Betty L. Ruddick Mosher.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service in Seymour with the Rev. Jon Carlstrom officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
