BROWNSTOWN
Carolyn A. Hackman, 85, of Brownstown went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 11, 2017.
Born Oct. 20, 1931, in Crothersville, she was the daughter of Homer and Lillie Nehrt, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 12, 1954, she married Orville G. W. Hackman, who proceeded her in death.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers. She sang in the church choir for many years and enjoyed singing for the weddings of family and friends. She worked in her younger years at the U.S. Shoe Factory in Crothersville, but spent most of her life as a homemaker and farmwife in Brownstown. She attended Crothersville schools and graduated from Crothersville High School in 1949.
Carolyn had a true zest for life. Her positive spirit was contagious and shone through to any and everyone she knew. She touched the lives of family and friends alike and was loved by all. She enjoyed talking, singing, reading and putting puzzles together. She loved animals of all kinds, farm life, trees, beautiful flowers and above all, her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the apples of her eye. She was so proud of all of their endeavors and accomplishments and loved keeping up with their lives. Carolyn knew that life is a gift and unfailingly glorified God for all of the blessings in hers.
Other survivors include three sons, Parke (Gina) Hackman and Steven (Debra) Hackman, all of Brownstown, and Matthew Hackman, Columbus; nine grandchildren, Ryan Hackman of Seymour, Kirstie (John) Tiernan of Nashville, Kerry (Matthew) Johnson of Brownstown, Cheyenne (John) Wischmeier of Vienna, Virginia, Dustin Hackman of Seymour, Jordyn Hackman of Columbus, Haley Hackman of Brownstown, Allyson Hackman of Columbus and Lance Hackman of Columbus; six great-grandchildren, Lexi Wischmeier, Ellie Johnson, Dylan Tiernan, Ivey Wischmeier, Eric Johnson and Norah Tiernan; and a brother John (Clarice) Nehrt of Crothersville.
