George, a standard poodle, will be the guest of honor during a Paws to Read program at the Jackson County Public Library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour.

The free 30-minute program is for those who love to read and listen to stories and those who love dogs. The program, intended for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, can help build confidence and increase fluency when reading aloud for struggling readers.

The first program is set for 4:30 p.m. Thursday. It also will be at the same time March 30, April 13 and April 27.
