John R. Schrink, 79, of Seymour passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at his home.

Born Dec. 16, 1937, in Seymour, he was the son of Louis P. Schrink Sr. and Mary Jane Engelking Schrink, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 19, 1976, in Austin, he married Shirley Babbs, who survives.

John retired in 1987 from Cummins, where he worked as an engineer for 30 years. He was a member of the Eagles and Surprise Christian Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Indiana University basketball and Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts football and loved playing golf. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, brother, father and grandfather.

Besides his wife, survivors include his stepdaughter, Stephanie Coomer of Scottsburg; brother, Tony Schrink; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Carol Schrink and Patricia Schrink and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Jim Schrink and Mary “Missy” Schrink; and brothers, Joseph and Louis “Pat” Schrink.

Private services will be conducted. The family asks that in John’s memory, memorials be made to Surprise Christian Church through Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour.
