
Southern Indiana Center for the Arts will begin a three-series youth art class based on the popular children’s book “Fancy Nancy: Aspiring Artist.”
The ideal ages for these classes are 4 to 7.
Hear how Nancy creates art pieces inspired by “the Masters” during her school spring break. Students also will create pieces after hearing about artists Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse and Jackson Pollock.
Class dates are Tuesdays (March 14, April 11 and May 16) from 5:45 to 7 p.m. at the arts center, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour. Two pieces will be made at each session with an art show featuring the students’ artwork scheduled the evening of May 24.
The cost to participate is $15 per session with SICA members receiving a 20 percent discount. Preregistration is required by calling 812-522-2278. Prepay for all sessions and get an additional $1 off per class.
The class size is limited to 12 with a minimum of six required to conduct classes.
