
Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation met Feb. 28 met with Force Construction officials at the Seymour District office to go over plans for a $3.4 million bridge and small structure replacement project on U.S. 50 in western Jackson County.
The Columbus-based company is charged with removing and replacing the single-span 90-foot bulb-T beam concrete bridge over Clear Spring Creek, located 3.35 miles west of State Road 135 in Owen Township. A nearby drainage structure on U.S. 50 also will be removed and replaced.
Installation of the three-sided small structure at an unnamed tributary of Clear Spring Creek is located 6.12 miles east of State Road 446. The new structure will have a 20-foot span and measure 52 feet in length.
Operations will take place later this year and during the spring-summer of 2018. The contract completion date is July 31, 2018.
Closures will be required.
U.S. 50 has a traffic count of 4,080 vehicles per day.
