DENVER, Colo.
Robert C. Saffell, 88, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of Winter Park, Colorado, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.
Born April 29, 1928, in Indianapolis, Robert grew up in Seymour.
He attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War, where he was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. Following his discharge from the Army, he went into sales and was vice president of sales for INA Insurance Co.
In 1968, he moved the family to Denver and worked in real estate ranch brokerage for previews. In 1985, he purchased one of the first Coldwell Banker franchises, located in Winter Park, Colorado.
Robert was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was an elder and past president of the congregation. He also was a member of the National Western Stock Show and Evergreen Rodeo Association.
He was an incredible father and family man and especially enjoyed attending his grandkids’ sporting events, fishing trips with his boys and spending time with his friends and family in the Rocky Mountains.
Survivors include his children, Dennis R. (Cyndie) Saffell, Rick Saffell and Beth (Kevin) Romero; and grandchildren, Sean and Erik Saffell and Colton, Donna Paige and Lauren Romero.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna L. Saffell; and brother, Jim Hiner.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today.
