Weather service issues flash flood watch

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis issued a flood warning Tuesday for the East Fork White River at Seymour. The warning is in effect through Saturday evening.

The river is expected to rise near flood stage, which is 12 feet at Rockford. At 1 p.m. Tuesday, the river was at 3.88 feet.

The weather service also issued a flash flood watch Tuesday evening for portions of south central Indiana, including Jackson, Jennings and Lawrence counties.

The flash flood watch will continue through this afternoon. A watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, which can create dangerous situations.

After rain and thunderstorms Tuesday morning saturated the ground, multiple additional rounds of thunderstorms were expected across the area Tuesday and into today.
