Callie Laney, 91, of Bedford passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.

Born Feb. 13, 1926, in Sneedville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Eugene and Minnie Bell Mullins. On April 20, 1946, in Jeffersonville, she married Charles Walter Laney, who passed away Nov. 1, 1990.

Callie had worked as a cook and a substitute bus driver for Houston School and then retired from Jackson Park Nursing Home in Seymour. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Alexander of Bedford; son, Earl Laney and fiancé Susan Heller of Norman; two grandsons, Chad Laney and Toby Laney, both of Norman; a great-grandson, Logan Laney; a sister, Jo Ann Crowe of Jeffersonville; special friends, Daiquiri Duncan of Florida, Desiree Taves of Montana, Darla Christenberry, Duane Terry and Dave Waggoner; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Hubert, Clint, Earl and Willard Mullins; and sisters, Gertrude Bush, Mary Banks, Viola Sturgeon and Lucy Killey.

At Callie’s request, cremation was chosen and private family services will be held, with burial at Scottsburg Cemetery.
