Downtown Seymour will be blooming with bargains Saturday for two Seymour Main Street events.

The 15th annual Lawn, Garden and Patio Show will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Robertson Parking Lot in the 100 block of South Walnut Street, behind Peace Lutheran Church.

Vendors will be displaying and selling a variety of lawn and garden items, including flowers, plants, garden art and landscaping materials, brooms, hand-painted items, wood crafts, lawn furniture, grills, lawnmowers and more.

Nearly 40 vendors have registered for the event, including several new booths such as Jubilee Flowers and Gifts, said Melissa Reutter, Main Street Promotions Committee member and event coordinator.

“We have new plant vendors, the Amish rug makers will be back and Smith Beekeeping will have honey for sale,” she said. “Everybody wants the fresh plants and flowers. Last year, one of our vendors, Rita Wischmeier, sold out of daylilies.”

Seymour Department of Public Works will be giving out free trees, and Seymour Water Pollution Control will be having a drawing to give away a free rain barrel.

Live music will be performed throughout the show by local talent Lom Win and Mojo Soul.

The Seymour Kiwanis Club’s annual pancake breakfast will be that day from 8 to 11 a.m. at the church. The breakfast raises money to help fund community service projects.

“We are looking forward to having a good time Saturday,” Reutter said. “Hopefully, the rain will hold out, but we will be here come rain or shine.”

Also taking place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is Seymour Main Street’s first Downtown Shop Around, a new event to help promote downtown businesses and attract more people to check out the downtown.

By picking up a punch card, visiting participating businesses and getting the card punched, shoppers will be entered into a drawing for $100, $50 and $25 gift certificates.

Participating businesses include Artistic Impressions, Beautiful Chaos, Claire Marie, Copper Rooster, Greemann’s Furniture, Hearts Desire, Hilltop Furniture, Revel Salon, The Picket Fence, Tiemeier’s Jewelry Store and Union Hardware.

Other Downtown Shop Around days will be July 16, Sept. 17 and Nov. 19.

“We think there is going to be a lot of traffic downtown Saturday,” Reutter said. “It’s going to be a fun day.”
