Rain forces schedule adjustments for Day of Caring

Jackson County United Way’s annual Day of Caring service event may extend to a week or even a month of caring, thanks to the weather.

Due to the potential for heavy rain and storms today, many of the projects for the 20th annual Day of Caring, especially those involving painting and outdoor construction, are being moved to Friday.

If a project has to be rescheduled due to weather, it is up to the volunteer team to ensure that the project gets completed at a later date, preferably within one week.

Despite the rain, projects still will be completed at about 20 different indoor sites.

When the rescheduled projects are completed, Day of Caring volunteers will have completed more than 160 projects with more than 1,030 volunteers throughout the county.

For information about rain-date projects, call the JCUW office at 812-522-5450 or your volunteer lead if you are a project site. If you have rescheduled your group, notify JCUW about alternate plans.
