The Owl’s Nest 4-H Club met March 29 at the Jackson County Public Library.

After roll call, members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the pledge to the 4-H flag.

They then discussed the May 15 deadline for adding or deleting projects and a club project to collect towels, old blankets, Dawn dish soap, dog toys, cat toys and food for the Humane Society of Jackson County. That drive ends Thursday, and anyone wishing to donate items may contact leader Missy Casner at 812-522-2936.

In May or June, members will be working with the residents of Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.

Macy Casner talked about the three categories of weather alerts — advisory, watch and warning — issued by the National Weather Service in the event of inclement weather and the preparations needed for each. She also talked about items for a kid’s backpack, disaster supply items, essential items and important documents everyone needs to have ready.

Macy and Missy Casner provided refreshments.

Other members, leaders and guests in attendance were Bethany Carmichael, Chloe Carmichael, Nathan Carmichael, Gracie Soriano, Joey Soriano and Chris Soriano.

The club’s next meeting will be May 9 at the library at 303 W. Second St., Seymour.

If you are interested in joining the club, contact Missy Casner at 812-522-2936 or [email protected] or Purdue Extension Jackson County at 812-358-6101.
