A 20-year-old man has been tied to the theft of an all-terrain vehicle on Monday in the Medora area.

Austin T. Brewster of Medora faces a Level 5 burglary charge and a Level 6 felony charge of theft after admitting to taking the 2006 Polaris from a residence in the 5500 block of County Road 825W, county Officer Jeff Walters said.

After the incident, initially investigated by county Reserve Officer Kevin Settle, Walters said he, Settle and Lt. Darin Downs received reports about a person riding the ATV in the same area where the theft was reported.

On Friday, Walters said he and county Officer Rick Meyer arrested Brewster on a Jackson Circuit Court warrant. He was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown and being held without bond pending his initial hearing.

Walters said he later interviewed Brewster about the ATV and he admitted to taking it.

The ATV also was recovered Friday in the Brownstown area and it was returned to its owner on Saturday, Walters said.
