Voter registration for primary ends soon

The last day to register to vote for the May 3 primary election is April 4.

Voter registration closes that day and will not reopen until May 17.

Applications must be received by the Jackson County Clerk’s Office in the courthouse at 111 S. Main St. in Brownstown or postmarked by April 4.

Absentee or early voting begins April 5 and runs through noon May 2 in the lobby of the courthouse, while the absentee polling site at Jackson Superior Court I at 1420 Corporate Way in Seymour will be open from April 18 to May 2. Hours at both sites are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23 and 30 and 8 a.m. to noon May 2.
