Annual candelight tour at state park set
Gamma Epsilon chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa Inc. of Mitchell will conduct its annual candlelight tour from 4 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19 at Spring Mill State Park, east of Mitchell on State Road 60.
In traditional dress, Tri Kappa members and their families along with Spring Mill employees and their friends will be reenacting the pioneer life of their ancestors by inhabiting the houses and buildings of the restored village to make it come alive as it would have been in the mid-1800s.
Pioneer crafts, demonstrations and entertainment by several musical groups will be a part of the tour. Visitors are asked to bring a flashlight. Tri Kappa members will sell concessions and food items in the Carriage House.
There will be a park admission charge of $7 for in-state licensed vehicles and $9 for out-of-state licensed vehicles. The village tour is free. Buses will shuttle visitors from the Lakeview Activity Center (nature center) and visitors with overnight accommodations from the campground and inn parking lots to the village.
Tri Kappa is a statewide sorority that supports several community and state charity, educational and cultural projects.
