A timber, wildlife and conservation practices field day will be conducted from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 12 at the Haubry Farm, which is about a mile east of Brownstown on U.S. 50.
Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. Call 812-358-2367, ext. 108, by Friday for free light lunch reservations.
There will be a sign to identify the location of the farm. Lawn chairs are welcome.
The topics to be discussed at the event include timber taxes; introduction and history of the Haubry Farm; drought, stress and emerald ash borer; environmental stress factors on timber, timber maturity and harvesting options; wildlife and conservation practices; conservation programs for habitat; invasive weeds (showing herbicide treatment and how to eradicate tree of heaven); and quality deer management. There also will be a tree planting demonstration.
The field day is sponsored by the Jackson County Soil and Water Conservation District and supported by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry.
