Cynthalena “Cindy” Corya, 60, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:22 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Born Nov. 1, 1954, in Seymour, Cindy was the daughter of Floyd and Lily Monteen Martin Koerner, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 12, 1980, she married Bert Corya, who survives.

She graduated from Seymour High School in 1972 and worked as a nurse for 39 years. She was passionate about her work and continued with her education until earning her Bachelors Degree in nursing in 2009. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and A.O.R.N. Traveling, spending time with her family, and helping others were some of the things she enjoyed most. She also loved her dog, Sissy.

Other survivors include her daughter, Dr. Andi Corya of Indianapolis; son, Daniel (Kelly) Mullen of Bloomington; and grandchildren, Tanner, Emma and Ryder Mullen.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Prather; and a brother, Donnie Koerner.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sawyer–Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service with the Rev. Scott Chasteen officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery.
