Mackenzie Wieneke of Seymour was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma on May 4 as part of the student-athlete recognition program at Franklin College.

Wieneke is the daughter of Matt and Lisa Wieneke.

Chi Alpha Sigma, the student-athlete honor society, is a nonprofit organization established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field, according to a news release from college.

The organization’s goal is to provide student-athletes with an opportunity to become involved with a fraternal association that aligns their educational and athletics successes.

To become a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, students must attend a four-year accredited college that is a member of the NCAA or NAIA; must have earned a letter in a varsity intercollegiate sport sponsored by the NCAA or NAIA; must be a junior or senior; must have a 3.4 grade-point average or higher; must have endorsement from the head coach of his or her sport; must be recommended by the college’s chapter adviser; and must be of good moral character.
