Horticulturalist Richard Beckort will present a program to help people start growing vegetables at 6:30 p.m. April 7 at the Jackson County Public Library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour.

Registration is preferred for this free program by April 4 by visiting myjclibrary.org/events or calling the Seymour Library at 812-523-4636. There is a minimum of five attendees.

Beckort will teach attendees how to get organized and plan for a successful garden this summer, beginning with cold-tolerant vegetables. He also will explain methods of planting.

He is director of Purdue Extension Jackson County and an agricultural/natural resources educator.
