IUPUC to conduct alumni weekend

Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus will have its second annual homecoming week Feb 19 to 21 with an array of activities, several of which are open to the public.

Alumni and former students along with high school students, parents and local residents are invited to attend.

Public activities for the Unleash the Pride event include an evening featuring nationally recognized comedians, a homecoming brunch featuring alumni panelist and a Saturday evening basketball game with the crowning of a homecoming king and queen during halftime.

The events include comedy night Feb. 19 with Damon Williams, a Chicago-based talent, as the headline act. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. in Columbus Learning Center Lecture Hall & Auditorium at 4555 Central Ave. in Columbus. Admission and parking are free.

A homecoming brunch is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb 20 in the Learning Center Commons. It will feature an alumni panel, the 2015 homecoming court and meet and greet with IUPUC basketball players. The event is co-sponsored by IUPUC Alumni Association and the moderator for the occasion is Emily Hodnett, IUPUC Alumni Board President. Panelist members include Emma Spakal, Jennifer Dettmer, Dr. Virgil Hill, the Honorable James Worton, and Austin Bustle representing the liberal arts, education, general studies and business divisions.
