Ralph Ernest “Ernie” Cravens, 80, of Crothersville, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.

Ralph lived in Columbus and Waymensville before moving back to Crothersville in 1987.

Born April 16, 1934, in Crothersville, he was the son of Ephriam Ernest and Ella Scifres Craven, who are both deceased.

Ernie owned C & H Trucking and retired in 1998 as a truck driver. He also was a Cummins Engine employee from 1968-1987. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, boat racing and watching hydroplane racing. He was a member of American Legion Post 89 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge, both in Seymour.

Survivors include three children, Mark E. (Debra) Cravens of Bloomington, James B. Cravens of Seymour, and Anita F. (Becky) Cravens of Bardstown, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Glenn) Brewer of Medora, Jeremy Aaron Kittle of Columbus, and Damon Gillis, Jessica Gillis and Derek Gillis, all of Seymour; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Jerry Joe Cravens, preceded Ernie in death.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Adams Funeral Home and Crematory in Crothersville with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
