Theta Omega chapter discusses Chicago bus trip

Theta Omega chapter of Phi Beta Psi Sorority conducted its November business meeting at the American Legion Annex where they set up for their Basket Bingo the following night.

President Joan Trimpe called the meeting to order. April Darlage, Janet Cooper and Becca Rust gave officer reports.

Spirit Club totals are Red Team by Kalee Alberring 200 and White Team by Taryn Rockey 203.

Rust reported on the recent Chicago bus trip that showed a profit, and members discussed ideas to make improvements for the 2015 trip.

Taryn Rockey spoke about the Cancer Dance for Feb. 7, 2015, at Pewter Hall, Brownstown. The committee has met with seven area high school seniors who are vying for queen of the ball.

Officers selected Dec. 9 for the chapter’s annual Christmas party to be at MainSource bank in Seymour. There An ornament exchange and do not forget your secret sister.

The Indiana State Convention for Oct. 16-18, 2015, will be held at the Clarion in Clarksville. The national convention will be July 19 to 22, 2015, in Tampa, Florida.

Janet Cooper stated the Horizon of Hope cleared $128

Earlier in the month, members celebrated the chapter’s 62nd birthday in the social room at Immanuel Lutheran Church with hostesses, Beckie Anderson, Kalee Alberring and Michelle Koester, serving soup, sandwiches and cake. Doris Baurle, Taryn Rockey and Alice Christopher received prizes.

The chapter was formed on Nov. 29, 1952, by Louise Easton, and 11 women were pledged and initiated at the old Elks Club on West Second Street. The parent chapter was Theta Iota in Speed, which is now Sellersburg. The sorority’s national project is cancer research.
