The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees approved a 2015-17 technology plan during a meeting Nov. 17 at the Medora Library.

The plan includes a summary of new technology planned for this year, including Teen Makerspace with iPads and circulating e-readers yet to come at the Seymour Library.

Items planned for purchase from 2015 to 2017 include self-checkouts for the Crothersville and Medora libraries and additional security cameras.

The board also approved the new full-time position of community services manager, which combines the branch manager and outreach services manager positions. They also approved changes to the meeting room policy and 2015 closing and board meeting dates. The board meets at 5 p.m. on the third Monday of each month.

Personnel committee chair Susan Haskett asked for board member feedback for Director Julia Aker’s evaluation. Evaluation forms are due to her by Wednesday.

The nominating committee presented a slate of officers for 2015, which will be approved at the Dec. 8 meeting: President Susan Haskett, vice president Josh Bartley, secretary Connie Adams, assistant secretary Cindy Rider and treasurer Mary Reed.

The Dec. 8 meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. after a 5:15 p.m. executive session at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St. Board meetings are open to the public and press, but executive sessions are not.
