Charles L. Deputy, 76, of Woodway, Texas, passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at Regent Care of Woodway.

Born April 10, 1938, he was the son of Charles D. and Cleoda Marie Deputy of Seymour. In his hometown of Seymour, he worked in his father’s auto repair garage as a kid, then Penneys during high school. After graduation in 1956, he was employed at Cummins Engine and then as parts manager at a GM dealership. During that time, he joined the Air Force Reserves and was briefly called into active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

In 1961, he began working in the accounting department of Weyerhaeuser Co. in Seymour. In 1980, when the plant closed, the company transferred the family to Jacksonville, Florida, where seven months later, that plant also closed. The company sent him to California. Then in 1989, he was transferred to Schaumburg, Illinois. His last transfer in 1990 took him to Waco, Texas, where he worked until he retired in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Nelda Mae Foster.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Marie Scott Deputy; a son, Robin Scott (Pamela) Deputy, Woodway; daughter, Allison Karen Deputy, Lake in the Hills, Illinois; grandchildren, Abigail Grace and David Ray Deputy and Allyn Bamett; brother, Rowland Deputy; sisters, Maxine Sharp and Audra (Gary) Polley; also sisters-in-law, Melinda Scott (Dion) Johnson and Karen (Dale) Nay. In 1961, Charles and Marie had a double wedding with Karen and Dale.

Charlie’s most loving dog, Sergeant, will miss him dearly. In Woodway, he and Marie were blessed with the most wonderful neighbors ever.

Cremation arrangements were provided by the Neptune Society. A memorial service is pending.
